Modified Chem Strain, GMO x Chemdog 91 Bx3, from Lucky Dog Seed Co

Modified Chem is GMO with the fuel turned up. Savory garlic and onion first, then the fuel from the Chemdog 91 Bx3 stud comes in behind it and stays. That was the whole point of the cross: I wanted to add a bit more fuel to the savory flavor of the GMO.

More fuel in the garlic

GMO x Chemdog 91 Bx3.

GMO is probably my personal favorite of all the cookie crosses out there. The savory garlic flavor is unlike anything else, and the effect is as heavy as people say. What she lacks on her own is gas. So I put her to the Chemdog 91 Bx3 stud, the same male behind every seed line on this site, to add a bit more fuel to the savory flavor.

The fuel came through. So did some extra weight: the Bx3 stud beefed up the spears, and the flowers hold the savory GMO funk with the stud’s fuel laid over it.

Where the GMO cut comes from

The GMO in this cross is the Skunkmasterflex cut. Mamiko Seeds in Spain crossed Chem D to the Forum cut of Girl Scout Cookies and called the seeds Chem Cookies. A pack went to Michigan around 2013, Skunkmasterflex grew it out and kept the plant the world now calls GMO. That is the cut I used as the mother.

So Chem D is in Modified Chem through the mother, and the Chemdog 91 Bx3 stud is the father. Chem D and Chemdog 91 are sisters from the same 1991 seeds, and the Bx3 stud is its own plant, bred down from the 91 cut over three backcrosses. That story is on the Chem D vs Chemdog 91 page.

How she grows

Very consistent for an F1. That is the thing I noticed first running the testers. You are not hunting through thirteen different plants.

She stretches. Expect a strong stretch in the first three weeks of flower, that is the GMO in her. The Bx3 stud tightens the nodes and gives her stronger side branching than GMO alone, but the terminal colas get heavy and want a trellis or a stake.

Flowering: 63 to 70 days.

Yield is high. The spears fill out and the weight is real.

Easy to grow. All of my genetics are easy to cultivate with vigorous growth. Give her room and support and she does the rest.

13 regular seeds. Germination is on the paper towel method page.

Smell and taste

Savory garlic and onion up front, the GMO signature. Then the fuel from the Bx3 stud, sharp and chemical, with a burnt rubber edge underneath. It lingers. Run a good carbon filter.

What she does

Starts clear and sharp, that is the Bx3 stud. Then the GMO weight arrives and settles into the body. Evening smoke. It is a more balanced effect than GMO alone, which can flatten you.

What you’ll read elsewhere

Modified Chem shows up on a few strain databases. Some list it under a different breeder or with a flowering time I do not get. I’m telling you what comes out of my room, and the seeds come from me.
