NorCal Gooey – Clone Only
A living legend in cannabis culture, NorCal Gooey is an evenly balanced hybrid known for its super sticky resin, iconic aroma, and timeless flavor profile. Its roots reach back through decades of California breeding, marrying landrace strains like Cambodian, Mexican Gold, Lumbo Gold, Thai, and Maui.
Bud appearance is striking: dense, minty green nugs, often with hints of purple or amber, wrapped in orange pistils and thick crystal trichomes. The smell is complex, sticky fruit and grape sweetness intersect with earthy wood and spicy floral tones, giving a smell that grabs you before the smoke ever hits.
The feel of NorCal Gooey is what made it legendary: expect a slow-building cerebral lift that eases into relaxing body calm, but never completely dulls the mind. It soothes stress, opens appetite, and carries you into peace. Works both for chill social evenings or winding down.
The Line
NorCal Gooey is not a Chemdog cross and does not pretend to be. It is a West Coast hybrid with landrace bones, Cambodian, Mexican Gold, Lumbo Gold, Thai and Maui running underneath decades of California selection. That mix is why it reads older than most of what is on the shelf: the structure is loose and reaching in the way sativa-leaning landrace stock tends to be, and the resin sits on top of it rather than in place of it.
It is kept here for the same reason the Chem lines are kept. Somebody had to hold it. Cuts like this disappear when the last person growing them stops.
Aroma and Flavor
Grape and sticky fruit first, sweet without being candied. Underneath, earthy wood and a spicy floral note that keeps the sweetness from going one-dimensional. The nose arrives well before the smoke does, a jar opened across the room announces itself, which is the trait the name is built on.
Cultivation Insights
The resin is the whole point and it is also the thing to plan around. It coats sugar leaf as heavily as calyx, so trimming runs slow and scissors gum up fast, keep a second pair and something to clean them with. The trim is worth keeping rather than discarding.
Expect the loose, reaching structure of the landrace side. Topping early and spreading the canopy pays off more here than it does on a dense indica-leaning plant, because left alone it will put its energy into a few dominant tops rather than an even spread of sites. Keep airflow moving through the middle of the plant late in flower; heavy resin plus dense nugs holds humidity.
What You Are Getting
A rooted clone of the cut itself. NorCal Gooey has never been released as seed and is not going to be, the only way to grow it is to grow the plant. Availability tracks what is rooted and ready, because one mother yields only so much cutting material.
Part of the Chemdog 91 line, the original 1991 cut, held by Skunk VA since 1995.
Your clone is guaranteed through transit and a reasonable recovery time. If she doesn't make it, I replace her. Nothing to worry about.
