Dog Patch – (Chem D x Chemdog 91 Bx2)
Dog Patch Seeds: Chem ‘D’ Meets the Chemdog 91 Bx2
Dog Patch keeps it in the family. This is Chem ‘D’ crossed back to the Chemdog 91 Bx2, two halves of the same 1991 batch, brought back together by the breeder who has kept the line running. Chem on Chem, fuel-forward the way the family is supposed to be, and one of the few crosses in the Lucky Dog Seed Co catalog where both parents trace to the same thirteen seeds.
Genetics & Lineage
The story starts in 1991, when ‘G’, the grower the world came to know as Chemdog, bought an ounce of Dogbud at a Grateful Dead show at Deer Creek, Indiana. That meeting was the start of it. They swapped contacts, and more flower was sent to him from Colorado after that. Thirteen seeds were found in that lot, and those seeds produced the original sisters: Chem 91 and Chem ‘D’ among them. Same batch, different plants, different directions.
Skunk VA has held the Chemdog 91 cut since 1995, unbroken. Chem ‘D’ came later and the long way round, in 2006 he flew to New York and traded Greg a couple of Chemdog 91 clones to bring her home. Dog Patch is what happens when those two lines meet again: the skunky, lemony 91 backbone underneath Chem D’s rubbery, raunchy funk, with her heavier resin and thicker branching coming through in the structure.
Aroma, Flavor & Terpene Profile
Sour fermented berry over the top of the gas, sweet, pungent, and genuinely astringent, the kind of sharpness that catches the back of the throat before the fuel lands. It is not a clean profile and it is not trying to be. We call it “Trash Terps”, and it is meant affectionately: this is the funk that made the Chem family worth preserving in the first place.
Effects & Experience
Fuel-forward and smooth with it. The Chem 91 side keeps the high functional rather than flattening, a working smoke that stays usable through the afternoon, with Chem D’s weight arriving late and settling in rather than closing things down.
Cultivation Insights
Expect branchy plants with low to medium stretch, Chem D’s thicker branching shows up early and gives you plenty of bud sites without much training. A light feeder: resist the urge to push nutrients, because this one performs better lean and will tell you quickly when it has had too much. Flowering runs 56–63 days (8–9 weeks). Each pack holds 13 regular seeds, which is real room to hunt a keeper out of a cross where both parents are worth chasing.

Difficulty and yield
Beginner-friendly. Branchy, low to medium stretch, a light feeder. There is not much to get wrong.
Yield is above average. The branching pays off.
